Since I last blogged I finished 1 Chronicles & Joshua. I've kept up to date in my Psalms & Proverbs. I'm on track to finish Revelation by the end of the month and 1 Kings and maybe Judges :-).
Josuha 23
6: Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is
written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside
therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
7: That ye
come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make
mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither
serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
8: But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.

1 Chronicles 21:24
I'm up through ch. 25 in 1 Chronicles. I should finish that book tomorrow. I've also been staying on schedule for Psalms & Proverbs and just started Revelation. I should finish Revelation by the end of the month and may even be able to play catch-up on some of the small NT books I skipped earlier this year (Galatians, Ephesians, James, 1 & 2 Thessalonians I believe ... my schedule's in the car :-)). My plan for the rest of the month is to stay up to date and finish Joshua & maybe Judges as catch-up for the OT.
This jumped out at me this morning:
1 Chronicles 21:24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
I like how King David is saying that it should cost us something when we give to the Lord.

no blogging over the weekend :-)
I babysat my 3 yr old nephew this weekend, so I didn't get a chance to jump on here. Since I last blogged, I've stayed up to date on my daily proverbs, read several chapters in Psalms (I think I'm up to 134 or 135), read several small books in the New Testament (2/3 John, Jude, 1/2 Peter, 2 Tim and some others) and started 1 Chronicles. We have a tent revival this week at church, so I'm not sure how much extra reading I'll do this week. I may actually have time to do more as I'll have a bit of down time between work and the tent revival, but we'll see.
1 Chronicles 5:20 stood out to me this morning:
20: And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

Proving Your Armour
This morning I read 1 Samuel 14 - 17, my daily Proverb, and a few chapters in Psalms. This stood out to me in 1 Samuel 17:
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
Before you can use the weapons of warfare, you must first prove them and know how to use them. So before you can fight spiritually, you must prove prayer and faith in God.
